Raids have officially started for the guild this last Wednesday. The events are posted so be sure to sign up for the new Storm Legion 10man, Triumph of the Dragon Queen. In our first week in there, we've already downed 3 out of 4 bosses. This is some awesome progression, so great job everyone. Let's get the rest of our members geared up enough to raid so we can look forward to start doing higher end content.

Promotions will happen soon! Now that I'm done with school for the semester I have a pocket of free time where I'll be able to keep up with these things in a more timely manner. I do apologize for my lack of participation these past few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who has helped the guild out since the launch of the expansion. Let's continue to work together to down further content. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, don't hesitate to ask or post in the forums.

- Nighteyes

Storm Legion Coming 11/13/12!

Making a general announcement for the upcoming release of Storm Legion! It's almost here! Okay, first, once Storm Legion hits, the guild as a whole will be taking a break from raiding to allow our members the time to hit the new level cap. We'll see our progress each week overall and will give everyone an update on when we'll start raiding again. Get those levels!

Next, when we actually start raiding level 60 content, the current DKP we've been accumulating for raids will be WIPED. This is to encourage recruitment so everyone will be on even grounds in terms of DKP points. Also, if you missed the announcement, all ranks can bid on DKP without worrying about the rank restriction for ID raids until SL launch. Currently, we plan on using the same attendance system, but if that changes we will go through the normal procedures to see if that's the best decision or not.

I know there will be a lot of changes when Storm Legion launches. With the new level cap, this will allow people to be able to possibly pick new mains as even ID gear will quickly become obsolete. If you want to change your main, let us know so we can make the necessary changes on our end. Just remember that we can't have too many of a single class in our raids. With that in mind, hopefully not too many people will want to change. =]

We're only 10 days away from Storm Legion! I'm actually finally getting excited. haha Good luck with the leveling!

I also want to take the time to thank the people who've bought more time for the guild site. Thank you very much for your contribution! We really appreciate it, especially me because I'm broke~ lol

- Nighteyes

It's that time again! :D First I would like to mention that Devilfire has stepped out to start a late night raid for those that are unable to raid with us at the normal time. Some of the officers have also stepped into join on our alts and help out either as dedicated late nighters and main raiders or just to help fill raids until they become full guild runs of main late night raiders. If you have any questions about it then please hit up the officers or check out the Late Night raid Guidelines here:http://www.valkyriandescent.com/forum/m/1246912/viewthread/4105661-late-night

PVP Mouse Madness
Whether you just want full PvP gear, P50 weapons or just to have some fun... then please go sign up for the PVP madness that we'll be starting every Saturday. The goal is to get a full organized raid for Conquest and we plan on dressing up as colorful mice to honor an old member from our old server Deepstrike named Sadfatkid. We are also expecting people to come prepared for raids from now on. This means have all of your raid consumables, read up on the fights and or watch videos and keep the talking to a minimum while we're doing the fight. Most importantly everyone needs to listen to the raid leaders when we ask you to keep it down or focus. While there isnt any form of punishment for not paying attention or following simple directions just keep in mind that there maybe in the future so get your shit together now. :)

Starting next Wed 8/29, we will now be giving extra DKP out for raid nights that are filled with a majority of progression pulls. Progression pulls meaning working on a raid boss we've yet to down. The amount of extra DKP given out on these nights will be 10 DKP. To be eligible for the extra points given out, you must participate in the raid or be available as backup for at least half of the duration of the raid (ie. over 1 hour if we raid for 2 hours).

We're working hard to try to get Ituziel down, so please work on your DPS if it's not as high as you think it should be. Work with your class leads to help get your numbers up and soon we'll have another boss down in ID on farm. Good luck!

I also want to mention that Hammerknell has officially been taken out of our raid night schedule due to lack of interest. This means that from now on we'll only be counting 2 raids per week (Wed/Thu - 8 raids per month) for raid attendance until we see fit to add a third day for ID progression on Friday. Until then, expect there to be a PF Changs group or two running on Fridays for now.

- Nighteyes

Raid Guidelines Overhaul

It's that time again. There has been a major overhaul to the Raid Guidelines section to help everyone understand exactly how the new DKP system will work for the guild. Make sure everyone reads through it all so there's no confusion. It details out all of the following major sections and changes:

NEW Rolling 30-Day Raid Attendance Percentage System

ID Loot Method/DKP Ruleset

HK Loot Method

Thrall Promotion Timeline

and more.

There is also a section explaining that this system won't fully be put into effect until our July raids begin, but the information is there to give everyone time to get a chance to read it and give their feedback. Not everything is set in stone just yet, so let us know what you think!

Above in the top menu is also a link to the DKP module which will help us keep track of everyone's points and who received what piece of loot in our adventures and floor-inspections for Infernal Dawn progression.

Infernal Dawn will be on Wed-Thur where Hammerknell top floor will be reserved for Fridays. Currently, it's more beneficial for us to start raid times at 8pm as it seems more people can make that time. If we can get back to a 7pm raid start time in the future and still fill consistently, we will do so.

The leadership would like to thank everyone for their continued support, understanding, and patience while we got all of this info worked out. Let's continue working together to get more bosses down and progress as smoothly as we can through Infernal Dawn and to finish up Hammerknell. =]

- Nighteyes

While not every looting system is completely fair, we think this would be more beneficial to our current and future members while we progress in ID. We will still be doing Hammerknell on Wed/Thurs 7-9:30pm server (whether we do all of the bottom floor or progress on the dkp) but everything will be open rolls with the exception of of newer people or people who dont play with us very often and will politely ask them to pass on certain things some of our core raiders may still need to help us progress in ID.

Infernal Dawn Progression will currently be on Friday for now unless we officially decide to extend to an extra raid day. We will be starting at 8pm server time and going until 10:30 or 11:00 depending. No DKP will be given on any other days on Friday until an extra day is decided. Doing so would be unfair to some of our members if we decided to randomly go in on an off day.

Gromlek and myself will be keeping track of everyone's DKP as well as listing it on our guild page which you can find at the top.
Updated Loot System, Creed and HK Raid Day Extension!

There have been a few changes, updates and information everyone should take note of, or at least know where to look this information up whenever they want. Now that we have enough members to run full guild Hammerknell runs, the Aesir and Vanir have discussed and agreed upon the loot system Valkyrian Descent will be using from now on. Also, for anyone who has been curious as to how rank ascension works in the guild, the Creed outlines all points and has been updated to reflect recent changes. And last, Friday, which has been the day we do Rise of the Phoenix, has been turned into an extra day for Hammerknell progression! If we don't ever have enough people to run Hammerknell on Fridays, we will run RotP instead.

The following is the new Loot System, which can be viewed at any time in the Raid Guidelines post:

HK Non-Relic Loot Method

Valkyrian Descent will be using a Roll System with Loot Council Influence. When a piece of loot drops, eligible members will /roll 100 to see who wins that piece.

HK Relic Loot Method

When an HK relic is dropped, we will be using a Rank Roll System with Loot Council Influence, where members /roll according to their rank groupings:

Valkyr, Valkyrie, Vanir & Aesir: /roll 100
Berserker & Einherjar: /roll 80
Dreng & Viking: /roll 60

Loot Council Influence

In both loot systems stated above, there will be Loot Council Influence.
This means the Vanir & Aesir have the power to determine which
person or class is ineligible for a particular piece of loot. We will do
this based on three things:

1. If someone already has a particular piece of loot but is able to
equip another, they are ineligible to roll on another until everyone in
the raid whom is eligible to roll on it has at least one.

2. Most loot is particularly better for one class over another. We will
determine which class benefits the most from a certain drop and limit
the other classes from being able to roll on that piece. We will mainly
be using BiS list locations to determine this.

3. Thrall, being new members of the guild, will always be ineligible for loot unless a piece is opened up for Thrall to roll on or until the Thrall has ascended to the rank of Dreng.

The loot systems are set up this way to ensure a fair loot distribution
throughout the raid to help the guild as a whole and allow us to
progress more smoothly.

As most of you know by now, we started our own HK progression this week (with 4-5 pugs to help out) and managed to down Murdantix! so congrats to everyone who was there :)

Now, I have to say that things will be a little more strict when it comes to raiding Hammerknell which means -EVERYONE- needs to come prepared to our raids. This includes having vials and whetstones (this is important for rogues since it's higher dps than the PA glyphs) as well as being properly speced and flexibly speced meaning that clerics need to have both tank healing builds and DoL builds. If you're not sure what either of those are then read the guides listed below or ask the class leaders which I will list at the end of this post. I want everyone to read and watch the fights for the first Tier of HK at the very least so that we're not wasting time explaining every mechanic to people and getting in less attempts.

Raid Chattering
I understand we're all here to have fun and enjoy seeing new content which is fine. However when it comes to new content, we do start taking things a little more seriously so that we -can- progress through it. We have always done things this way, even when we first started attempting GSB (well before most of you were in the guild)

Many of you have heard me say several times during raids that only the people with assist should be talking during the boss fights as we're calling out mechanics. Suggestions or comments inbetween attempts is perfectly fine, but I only want officers or raid leaders talking during the actual pull.
There are a couple of issues that I would like to address when it comes to our raids. The first thing is that -everyone- needs to come prepared with their vials, buff food, runes and enhancements (weapon stones) From this point on, we will be marking down anyone who doesnt come fully prepared to our raids and it may hurt your monthly promotions.

We will be listing "recommended specs" that everyone -should- be using for our raids in order for things to run smooth. We have done this in the past and it has proven to work very well. These 2 things really do make the difference and that was shown when we downed Herald on thursday.

Note: These builds will will most likely change when I find the most up to date versions of them.

Warriors
All of our warriors should be using the following spec for dps once you have reached a base of 900 crit. We do need our rogues to start stacking attack power over crit as the attack power gives a bigger dps increase and is more consistent. It's better to be ranged as 90% of the fights in Rift are NOT melee friendly. Every rogue should have a 51 bard spec. Just because we have quite a few rogues doesnt mean they are all geared to dps or will show up to every raid.
http://valkyriandescent.com/forum/m/1246912/viewthread/2050613-marksman-guide-patch-16/page/1#last

Mages
This thread includes specs for all 3 roles. We are and always have been a PvE focused progression guild and we havent been able to recruit of fill raids as of late due to this. Some of you may not want to leave if you're a heavy pvper, which is fine and you will be missed :< but this is for the good of the guild.

We will officially move the entire guild on Monday and if you decide to switch before that, you need to let us know and if you have to change your character name, you'll need to let us know about that as well.
I would like to first bid a farewell to our one and only Stickyshits. As i'm sure most of you know already, he is parting ways with us due to our raid times affecting his real life job as a prostitute. He will still be keeping his 2 others "alts" with us and will still raid with us when he has time off.

You can see his awesome farewell party here: http://valkyriandescent.com/gallery/m/1246905/album/8416

Officer Application
We now have an officer position open which you can apply for here: http://valkyriandescent.com/forum/m/1246912/viewthread/1023689-officer-position-open-apply-here
I need someone who is able to play frequently and is able to handle the guild while myself or Nighthawk arent around.

SIGNUPS
Now I know signing up for raids is just a pain in the ass for some of you and you dont really want to do it or just dont really care, but if you know for sure that you -want- to come to a raid, then you NEED to signup even if you're not 100% sure you can attend. Put a maybe, put a note that you'll be late or whatever it takes. I'm getting tired going out of my way to confirm people for our 20mans during the week because they dont sign up and then find out 5-6 people signed up literally 30minutes before the starting time. On one last note, if you signed up and are late the raid (even if we're on the last boss) dont expect a spot if we've already replaced you with a filler. I know our fillers are usually new people, but they were on and ready to go when we needed them and they will most likely stay unless I or other officers say otherwise.

Keep in mind that our extended raid days are Fridays.

I know a lot of you (myself and other officers included) want an extended raid day for more progression in RoS, but we all need to agree on a day that works best for everyone. You can go ahead and vote in the thread http://www.valkyriandescent.com/forum/m/1246912/viewthread/1443625-extended-raid-day

The second thing I would like to address are DPS builds for raiding. Now that we have GSB on farm and are currently progressing in RoS so that we can -all- move onto HK eventually, we are going to be upping the minimum DPS that we know everyone can do. For the time being we currently require that people do at least 800 dps and while there still may be a few who dont, we will tolerate for now. We would like to start seeing everyone doing at least 1k as the minimum and there's really no excuse not to be unless you're still a little under geared and are being carried, but we dont have too many people like that anyway. We want to get the most out of our members during raids and feel that it would be best if everyone uses the DPS builds that I will list below. While we wont force you to use them, we will mostly likely bring the people to raids first that do.

I will add the links a little later

Warrior
http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-general-discussions/classes-telara/warrior-discussion/237745-vals-rising-waterfall-macro-guide-38-26-2-2-hand.html

Rogue
http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-general-discussions/classes-telara/rogue-discussion/264590-zyzyxs-1-5-rogue-pve-dps-bible.html

Mage Dps
http://valkyriandescent.com/forum/m/1246912/viewthread/1422925-pyro-1k-dps-build/page/1#last

Cleric Dps
http://www.valkyriandescent.com/forum/m/1246912/viewthread/1444612-cleric-mele-dps-as-told-by-teacher/page/1#last
